The Bee’s Knees began in 2022 with a competitive cross-country race and kids’ fun run. The vision for the Bee’s Knees was to provide “The Southside’s Premier Cross-Country Race” while offering the community a free race for children.

The race benefits Young Life Chesapeake. Young Life is a Christian ministry that reaches out to middle school and high school students across the City of Chesapeake. Young Life’s work with youth includes outreach to teen mothers and their children (YoungLives) and students with special needs (Young Life Capernaum).
